Blog Questions Challenge!
Krishna tagged me as a part of a challenge couple of weeks ago, I've been extremely skeptical as I was unsure if I was qualified enough go write it. But the questions sure look fun! So here I go!
Why did you start blogging in the first place?
I started blogging only this year! Although I've always written, almost my entire life, I was quite conscious and perhaps even a little shy to put my works out in the open. Hyderabad Write Club has given me quite some confidence to be bold and vocal about writing. And here we are!
What platform are you using to manage your blog and why did you choose it? Have you blogged on other platforms before?
I am using only Substack! I haven't blogged anywhere else. I don't know if personal diary whose whole and sole audience is me alone would count? (Wink wink) I chose substack because I've seen couple of my friends use it, I liked the UI and I impulsively made an account and started blogging!
How do you write your posts? For example, in a local editing tool, or in a panel/dashboard that's part of your blog?
I write my posts on Google keep or Google docs. Sometimes I am lazy, then I just open substack and directly start typing. God bless the automatic keep draft feature, if it weren't for that, I would've lost so much of my writing!
When do you feel most inspired to write?
When something moves me, adds something to my belief system or perhaps subtracts, sometimes enhances. Epiphanies and emotional outbursts, rants and reviews, sometimes out of fear that I might forget writing and will feel a sense of hollow, because I have not known myself without it.
Do you publish immediately after writing, or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
There was a time I used to immediately post or put a story of most poems I had written. But not anymore. I don't publish poetry online anymore, I want to publish it as a book. Prose is something I've struggled with. I've written vey few short stories and none of them have been published anywhere. I am a little romantically obsessed with print publishing. Hopefully one day they'll see the light of the day as print on paper!
When it comes to blogs, I think I publish them almost immediately. That's why all of them have spelling errors. When I say all I mean all. My mum called me to inform for at least two of them that my spellings were wrong, she doesn't even read the entire blog, so yeah! A bad habit, I wish I can do better proofreading from times ahead!
What's your favorite post on your blog?
Aye! This is a tricky one, I don't think I've written enough to have a favourite one but maybe this epiphanies, short skirts & nostagia (January Jottings 2)
Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, a move to another platform, or adding a new feature?
Hopefully if I keep writing more and more and more, perhaps in Telugu as well and get a few works published and maybe have a separate series of writing about music or dance, then I could maybe make my website. That's a very farfetched thought. For now, I want to stick to what I've started. I am enjoying this. I want to be able to write prose and I am hopping blogging will help with my muscles to get accustomed to prose. To more writing!
Who's next?
Anyone who reads this! (I don't have many friends around here, can't complain, I'm not even active, I'll do better by next year hopefully!)
See you soon
